CrowdStrike: enterprise-grade endpoint security, deployed where the risk profile calls for it

CrowdStrike Falcon is widely considered one of the strongest endpoint security platforms on the market, covering next-generation antivirus (Falcon Prevent), endpoint detection and response (Falcon Insight), identity protection, cloud workload security, and managed services including Falcon Complete MDR and OverWatch threat hunting. For businesses with significant regulatory exposure, board-level security mandates, or threat profiles that warrant the spend, CrowdStrike is often the right choice.

Dr Logic deploys CrowdStrike Falcon for clients where the risk profile justifies it. We’re a CrowdStrike partner and have hands-on experience with the platform across endpoint, identity, and managed detection scenarios. CrowdStrike sits alongside the other endpoint security options in our stack (notably WithSecure (formerly F-Secure) and Microsoft Defender) so we can match the right product to the right client rather than recommending the same thing to everyone.

This sits inside our IT Success® Plans and forms part of the wider cyber security work we do, alongside email security, identity protection, and managed SOC capability through SafeAeon.

What Dr Logic delivers with CrowdStrike

  • Deployment across Mac and Windows. We deploy the Falcon sensor across every endpoint, configured properly for your environment and verified across the estate. Mac deployment runs through our MDM stack (Jamf or Addigy) so new devices get protected automatically during onboarding.
  • Prevention and detection policy tuning. We configure prevention and detection policies that match how your business operates, tuning them over time to reduce noise without weakening detection. CrowdStrike’s defaults are sensible but rarely the right fit for every client without adjustment.
  • Endpoint detection and response (EDR). Falcon Insight provides deep visibility into endpoint behaviour, with the data and tooling to investigate suspicious activity, trace attack chains, and contain compromised devices. For clients on the relevant tier, this is the layer that catches sophisticated threats that prevention alone wouldn’t.
  • Identity protection. Where it’s in scope, we deploy Falcon Identity Protection to monitor Active Directory and Entra ID for credential theft, lateral movement, and account compromise attempts. This sits alongside the broader identity work we do with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and JumpCloud.
  • Threat hunting and managed detection. For clients on Falcon Complete or who use our managed SOC service through SafeAeon, proactive threat hunting and 24/7 monitoring run on top of the Falcon platform. Detection becomes a continuous service rather than an alert dashboard nobody looks at.
  • Incident response coordination. When something real happens, our team works alongside CrowdStrike’s tooling (and SafeAeon’s SOC where applicable) to contain, investigate, and remediate. Falcon’s forensic visibility is particularly strong here, giving a clear picture of what happened and what to do about it.
  • Cyber Essentials and compliance support. CrowdStrike Falcon directly supports the malware protection requirement of Cyber Essentials and provides strong evidence for Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO 27001, and SOC 2 audits. We use it as part of certification and ongoing compliance work.
  • Reporting and posture visibility. Regular reports cover detections, blocked threats, security posture trends, and where the residual risk sits. Leadership gets a clear view of what the platform is actually doing.

Partner status and expertise

Dr Logic is a CrowdStrike partner with hands-on experience deploying Falcon across client environments, particularly in professional services and creative firms where the risk profile warrants enterprise-grade endpoint security. This runs alongside our Apple Premium Technical Partner work, which matters: CrowdStrike’s macOS support is strong, but deploying and tuning it properly in an Apple-heavy environment needs an MSP that genuinely understands macOS rather than treating it as a Windows afterthought.

When CrowdStrike is the right fit, and when it isn’t

CrowdStrike is often the right call for clients with significant regulatory exposure, sensitive data (legal, financial services, healthcare-adjacent, M&A advisory), board-level security mandates, or threat profiles that warrant enterprise-grade protection. It performs consistently strongly in independent testing, has best-in-class threat intelligence, and Falcon Complete (the fully managed tier) is one of the most respected MDR services in the market.

That said, it’s not always the right answer. WithSecure is a more economical choice for businesses where the threat profile is lower or where the budget doesn’t justify CrowdStrike’s pricing, and it performs well in independent testing. Microsoft Defender for Business or Defender for Endpoint can make sense for clients heavily committed to Microsoft 365, particularly where the right E5 licence already includes it. SentinelOne is a credible alternative with strong autonomous response capability, often at a lower price point than CrowdStrike.

On the July 2024 outage: CrowdStrike pushed a faulty sensor update that caused widespread Windows crashes globally. They’ve since changed their update deployment process to address what went wrong, including staged rollouts and improved validation. We’ve reviewed the post-incident response and how it’s affected ongoing operations, and we’re satisfied that the platform remains a strong choice where it’s the right fit. We also build update controls into how we deploy CrowdStrike (and any other endpoint product) so a similar incident wouldn’t hit every device simultaneously.

The right answer depends on your risk profile, your budget, your existing stack, and whether the additional cost and capability of CrowdStrike is genuinely justified. Get in touch and we’ll talk it through honestly.

How does CrowdStrike work on Macs?

The Falcon sensor for macOS is properly supported and goes deep into the operating system, not a Windows product with a Mac afterthought. We deploy it via Jamf or Addigy as part of standard device enrolment, so new Macs are protected automatically.

How is this different from WithSecure or Microsoft Defender?

WithSecure and Microsoft Defender are both credible endpoint protection platforms at different price points and with different strengths. CrowdStrike typically sits at the higher end on capability and cost, with strongest threat intelligence and the broadest enterprise feature set. WithSecure is often the better economic fit for SMEs where the threat profile is moderate. Defender can make sense if you’re already on the right Microsoft 365 licence. We pick based on your risk profile, budget, and stack, not on what’s easiest to sell.

How does CrowdStrike compare to SentinelOne?

Both are credible enterprise endpoint platforms with strong detection and response capability. SentinelOne tends to win on autonomous response and is often more economical. CrowdStrike tends to win on threat intelligence, the Falcon Complete managed service, and the breadth of the platform across endpoint, identity, and cloud. The right answer depends on the client.
