Apple released iOS 26.6.1, iPadOS 26.6.1, and macOS Tahoe 26.6.2 on 17 August, fixing close to 30 vulnerabilities. If your fleet runs on manual or delayed update policies, push this one out now rather than waiting for the next scheduled window.
What is actually in this release
Most of the fixes address WebKit, covering more than 20 of the vulnerabilities, alongside kernel issues and a flaw that could let an app leak information through the audio system. Apple also patched an image processing bug that could allow code execution from a maliciously crafted file. None of the vulnerabilities is reported as actively exploited, but the details are now public, which is exactly the point at which unpatched devices become a target.
This is the third security release in three weeks
Apple released iOS 26.6 and macOS Tahoe 26.6 on 27 July, fixing around 90 vulnerabilities in iOS and iPadOS and more than 130 in macOS Tahoe. A macOS-only update followed on 6 August, closing a separate authentication issue in Screen Sharing. The 17 August release is the third in the same stretch. Three security releases inside a month is an unusually tight cadence, even for Apple.
